STARLIGHT is now available for purchase!!

After many months of work refining and touching up my development board STARLIGHT, I’m pleased to announce that it is finally open for pre-orders! This is another huge milestone in my journey, launching my very first original product.

The board does not come with firmware already installed, this is a development board targeted towards model rockets. You must write your own firmware. However, a library is included in the digital guide that makes interfacing with peripherals on the board significantly easier, and the digital guide also includes all the documentation you need to succeed with this board.

This board boasts:

  • RP2040 for blazing-fast code execution and easy programming. You can write your firmware in Python!
  • ICM-42605 6-axis IMU: Gyroscope and accelerometer
  • Level shifter to allow use of 5V servos with the 3.3V RP2040
  • Dual temperature sensing for added redundancy and protection from overheating
  • Pressure sensor for altitude determination and flight tracking
  • 6x 3.3V GPIO pins, plus exposed SPI, I2C, and UART interfaces for even more versatility
  • 2x 5V GPIO pins, made possibly by the on-board level shifter
  • 16MB of flash storage, for storing flight data and firmware
  • Indicator LEDs
  • Micro-USB for easy programming
  • Input voltage 5-18V
  • Dual voltage regulators for both 3.3V and 5V directly on the board
  • Two servo outputs to allow for optional thrust loop vector control interface
  • M3 mounting holes, mounting hardware NOT included
  • Digital guide included

This board is for sale for $50 USD. I have also written an entire guide on programming, using, and interfacing with the board and its peripherals. Even if you’re not adept in electronics or programming, you can still get this board working and collecting data for your model rocket!
